Any student transferring to COTC from another institution must first add COTC's school code (011046) to his FAFSA. It is the student's responsibility to notify the Office of Financial Aid if he has attended any other institutions during the academic year.
The Office of Financial Aid will determine remaining grant and loan eligibility before disbursing financial aid funds based on data received from the National Student Loan Data System. To ensure the student does not exceed his annual and aggregate limits on federal funds, COTC will not originate a loan until all pending disbursements have been cancelled by the previous institution. It is the student's responsibility to contact the other institution to make this request. If a student receives financial aid in excess of the annual and/or aggregate limits, he is responsible to repay the funds.
A student who is transferring in credit hours from another institution should be aware that those hours are counted in the maximum time frame portion of Satisfactory Academic Progress and may reach maximum time frame before completing his academic program. We recommend a transfer student speak with the Office of Financial Aid to know how close he may be to reaching his maximum time frame for aid.
