Dual Admission

Dual admission allows students to be enrolled both at COTC and another college or university at the same time.  This allows students to take advantage of programs and services such as library privileges, advising, and academic support at both institutions, while seamlessly earning both an associate’s degree and a bachelor’s degree.

Advantages of Dual AdmissionGateway_A4573_lr.jpg

  • Academic support services at both schools (tutoring, library, advising);
  • Student activities (athletics, career counseling);
  • Attainment of a bachelor’s seamlessly and at a lower cost;
  • Collaborative arrangement of financial aid;
  • Programs that lead to professional advancement;
  • Small classes with quality faculty

Dual Admission Partner

Currently, COTC has an agreement with Ohio Dominican University (ODU) for Accounting Technology, but seeks to add several more partners in the near future.

Ohio Dominican University Partnership:
Students in the program will be expected to take at least one course per semester with ODU, but may do so at the tuition rate equivalent to that paid by students in ODU’s LEAD program. Students completing the bachelor’s degree in accounting will be eligible to take the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination.

Articulation Agreements

Many Ohio four year colleges and universities will afford the COTC student the opportunity to transfer most if not all of their COTC credit course work into an established program at the four year institution.  An articulation agreement between COTC and a four year institution is a guarantee to the COTC student that specific coursework taken at COTC will enable that student to be granted transfer credit into a particular program at the four year institution.

How an Articulation Agreement Works

Each institution follows their own admissions processes.  A COTC student who wishes to transfer to a four year institution would contact the Admissions Office at the four year institution and follow their processes for application to the four year school.  During the application process, the student must self-identify as a Central Ohio Technical College graduate/former student and indicate a desire to evoke the articulation agreement between the two institutions.  The four year college Admissions staff will then inform the student of the steps that must be taken for this process to be implemented. For further information on these agreements, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs at 740-364-9543.
